The Blessing of Rain on Your Wedding Day
They say rain on your wedding day means good luck, but as I was looking through Rose + Logan’s wedding day photos, I was reflecting more on the rain that started just minutes after their outdoor ceremony finished. I was thinking of all the times in God’s Word where it talks about rain. It so often refers to rain as a blessing in Scripture. And I think the rain on Rose + Logan’s wedding day was indeed a blessing, maybe even in just the reminders that rain brings. Rain makes me think of newness and cleansing and nourishment. And I think that rain on a wedding day is an even more beautiful picture of all those things. The newness of the marriage and covenant that’s just beginning. The cleansing and refining purpose of marriage to make us more like Christ. And the nourishment of having someone to encourage you in your walk of faith and grow the fruits in your life. Most people would view the rain as a nuisance, and it does make plans change and maybe add in a little chaos, but I think the meaning and blessing behind the rain overwhelms everything else. I know for me I couldn’t stop dwelling on all of God’s blessings and promises as I watched the rain fall. He promises us such life and newness. He promises us cleansing and unending nourishment. It was just such a beautiful perfectly timed reminder.
